When will puppies be available?
At this time, puppies are not yet available. Our breeding program is currently in its foundation phase. We are intentionally allowing our dogs the time they need to mature physically and emotionally before breeding takes place, as well as planning perfect pairings.
Families on our waitlist will receive updates as we reach key milestones and will be the first notified when future litters are planned.
We intend for our first litter to be ready in winter of 2026.
-
Why don’t you have puppies yet?
We believe ethical breeding begins long before the first litter.
Our dogs are being thoughtfully raised, health-supported, and temperamentally evaluated to ensure we are building a program rooted in sound genetics, stable temperaments, and lifelong well-being. We choose to take our time rather than rush the process.
-
What breeds do you raise?
We focus on thoughtfully planned pairings that support health, temperament, and family companionship.
Currently, we are planning to offer mini Bernadoodles and mini Australian Bernadoodles.
-
How do I join the puppy waitlist?
You can join our puppy waitlist by completing our waitlist application. This allows us to get to know you, share program updates, and begin a thoughtful conversation.
Joining the waitlist does not guarantee a puppy and does not require a commitment.
-
Is there a cost to join the waitlist?
There is no cost to join our waitlist.
-
How do you decide which family gets which puppy?
We prioritize thoughtful puppy-to-family matching. Puppies are evaluated for temperament and personality, including an independent temperament assessment completed by a third party who does not live in our home and does not have daily interaction with the puppies.
Placement decisions are a shared experience between us and the buyer, guided by compatibility, lifestyle, and preference rather than based on appearance alone.
-
How are your puppies raised?
Our puppies are raised in our home as part of our family. Dogs spend most of their time free-ranging, with crates and kennels used intentionally for safety, rest, and positive training.
Every puppy also receives age-appropriate neurological stimulation and gentle socialization to support confidence and resilience.
-
Do you provide health testing?
Yes. Health-conscious breeding decisions are central to our program. Our breeding dogs receive appropriate health screenings, and we work closely with licensed veterinarians to support long-term wellness.
-
What support do you offer after a puppy goes home?
We provide lifetime breeder support. We remain available for guidance and support throughout your dog’s life.
If a family can no longer care for their dog at any point, we require that the dog be returned to us so no Brooks Haven dog is ever abandoned or rehomed without our involvement.
-
Why are ethical breeder’s puppies priced higher?
Our pricing reflects the true cost of raising puppies ethically, intentionally, and with lifelong responsibility.
Ethical breeding requires significant investment long before a puppy ever goes home. This includes health-focused breeding decisions, veterinary care for parent dogs, limited and well-spaced litters, early neurological stimulation, in-home raising, independent temperament evaluations, and continued care for all adult and retired dogs in our program.
By prioritizing health, temperament, and early development, we aim to reduce the risk of preventable hereditary and behavioral issues, which can help families avoid many costly and stressful veterinary visits later in life. While no breeder can guarantee perfect health, thoughtful breeding and early care often translate to lower long-term medical expenses, fewer behavioral challenges, and a smoother transition into family life.
Lower-priced puppies often reflect shortcuts—minimal health screening, high-volume breeding, limited early development, or a lack of lifelong responsibility for the dogs produced. These savings upfront can unfortunately result in significantly higher costs over time, both financially and emotionally.
Our pricing is not just for a puppy—it is an investment in:
Preventative care rather than reactive treatment
Sound genetics and stable temperaments
Early development that supports confidence and adaptability
Lifetime breeder support and a return commitment
We believe that doing things right from the beginning creates healthier dogs, stronger family bonds, and peace of mind for the families who welcome our puppies into their homes.
